The Cover Is Almost Here. (And So Is The Book.)

Next week I get to show you something I've been sitting on for a while now, and I'll be honest — waiting has not been easy.

Next week is a big week. The cover reveal for The Gilded Cage. And The Lotus and the Crown joining Kindle Unlimited — so if you've been waiting to start the series, next week is your moment. Julian and Kiran from the beginning, free with your KU subscription.

Not on Kindle Unlimited? You can pick up The Lotus and the Crown on Amazon right now: The Lotus and the Crown. Julian and Kiran's story begins there — in a Bangkok night market, in the specific, improbable moment of being seen when you've spent years being invisible. Start there. You'll need it for what's coming.

I designed the cover myself, and I am — not to bury the lede — extremely pleased with how it turned out. There's something about seeing a book you've lived inside for months become a physical, visual thing. It stops being just yours. It starts becoming real.

For those of you who've already read Book One and are waiting for Book Two: I see you. I appreciate your patience. I know some of you have been asking about this book since before I'd finished writing it, and I can tell you now — it was worth the wait. Not because I say so, but because I genuinely think this is the better book. Harder, quieter in places, more willing to sit with difficult things. Julian goes somewhere in this book that I found almost unbearable to write and completely necessary.

I'm not going to tell you where.

What I will say is this: The Lotus and the Crown is a book about whether love is possible inside a gilded cage. The Gilded Cage is about what love costs when the cage stops being gilded.

Two weeks. Cover and KU next week. Book the week after.

See you then.
